Kuala Lumpur: The AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup™ China 2025 Qualifiers concluded on Sunday after five thrilling matchdays.
Nine teams earned the right to join two-time champions Islamic Republic of Iran, Japan and hosts China PR at the May 6-17 Finals.
Goals galore
A total 212 goals were scored across the five matchdays, averaging 6.62 goals per game.
Big hitters
Vietnam, with 28 goals, were the highest scorers in the Qualifiers. Fellow Group D side Chinese Taipei found the back of the net 24 times while Thailand and Indonesia scored 22 goals each.
Rampant Vietnam
Amazingly, 21 of Vietnam’s 28 goals came from one match – the resounding 21-0 win against Macau. Chinese Taipei also scored an emphatic victory against Macau, cruising 18-0 past the East Asian side.
Uzbekistan’s Maftuna shines
Shoyimova Maftuna finished the Qualifiers as the leading scorer with eight goals, five of which were scored in the 6-2 win over Turkmenistan which sealed Uzbekistan their spot in the Finals.
Perfect records
Thailand (Group A), Indonesia (Group B) and Australia (Group C) advanced to the Finals with perfect records. Thailand and Australia won four matches each while Indonesia triumphed against all three of their challengers.
Mean defences
Group D runners-up Chinese Taipei had the tightest defence, conceding only twice while Thailand, Indonesia, Australia and Group D winners Vietnam each let in three goals in the course of their respective campaigns.
Philippines win third-placed race
It was touch and go for a bit but the Philippines’ sparkling performances were ultimately rewarded with the Southeast Asian side advancing to a debut appearance at the Finals on the best third-placed team ticket. Australia will also be making a first appearance at the Finals.
